Project Management
From Evrose
Evrose staff and associate project managers have extensive experience in project management in the IT industry. Our experience covers multi-site office moves, new offices, call centre upgrades, infrastructure upgrades, desktop and laptop refresh exercises, and major software implementations. Individual projects range in value up to £5 million, although we have played a part in much larger programmes of work worth tens of millions.
Our objective is to ensure that projects are managed efficiently and cost effectively, delivering precisely to customer requirements, and on budget if not under. Over the years we have saved customers hundreds of thousands of pounds through robust supplier management and cutting waste. Our major specialism is in turning around major projects that have gone wrong, where suppliers and/or the budget and timescales have run riot. We re-examine the requirements, assess what can be salvaged, re-engage or replace suppliers who are not delivering, and put tight controls around the remainder of the project.
How do we differ from the big management consultancy firms? Well, we try not to talk in consultancy speak. We don't wear Armani or Boss suits, and often don't even wear ties - you pay for our experience and expertise not our wardrobe. You won't find any of the other trappings of the big consultancies either, whether it is the Porsche in the car park or the big bill for telling you stuff you already know. The client's interests and bottom line come first, not the opportunities for extracting cash for things you don't need. We focus firmly on your business objectives, and manage projects to deliver what you asked for, when you asked for it, at the price it is worth, and with no nonsense.
No nonsense does not mean no process or method though. Our project managers are all PRINCE 2 trained. There are tried and trusted ways of managing projects that deliver on time, on budget, and to specification, and seat of the pants is not advised. Common sense, tenacity, and pragmatism are at the core of a good project manager's character, and we do not adhere blindly and rigidly to processes if it is not appropriate or proportional. And I guess that is another big difference between using an experienced independent project manager, and using a corporate consultant relying on theory taught in business school.
Project Management clients have included:
- Department for Work and Pensions
- Department of Health
- Home Office and UK Border Agency
- Pfizer Pharmaceuticals
- Fujitsu Services
- Lombard Finance
- ITNet
Whilst the majority of our project management clients are in large organisations, we also have experience with smaller customers and projects, and are happy to provide project assurance rather than full project management services. When it comes to our Web Design services, you get all of our extensive project management experience built in.
Rates vary according to the complexity and size of the project but are typically from £600 per day plus expenses. Despite the recession, demand is still extremely high and we don't staff projects with project managers who we do not know to have a blemish-free track record in delivery. Availability is therefore very limited at this time but if you are in the planning stage of a major project then we would be happy to discuss the value we can add.
